In remembrance of the Korean War veterans, The Wall of Remembrance, The Pool of Remembrance, and many more work of arts were built. These arts of remembrance honor those who served in the Korean War that were part of the United States Armed Forces. The Korean War is often called the "Forgotten War" and these historical sites helped ensure the remembrance of the young soldiers that fought in the war to preserve our freedom.
The Pool of Remembrance
The Pool of Remembrance was to give the message that "Freedom Is NOT Free". The message intended is to encourage visitors to view the Memorial proper, view the listing of casualties and then encircle the Pool and reflect on the human cost of war. Although the intentions of the pool is understandable, many visitors are awed by the artistic message and aren't aware of the symbolic message.
The Wall Of Remembrance
Contains names of veterans and people who served and died in the Korean War. The Wall Of Remembrance is also the foundation of The Pool of Remembrance, The Statues, and The Mural Wall commemorating the people who fought and forever remembering what they did for our country.
The Statues
Statues made of stainless steel that are 7 feet tall and represents the ethnic cross section of America. It shows the duties of the soldiers, and the different ethnicity of the soldiers that fought during the war. The poncho and the polished granite strips represent what the soldiers went through in Korea and what they wore to protect themselves from the cold winds.
The Mural Wall
The two dimensional wall represents the forces supporting the foot soldier, depicts Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel and their equipment. The mural creates an image of a total of 38 statues symbolizing the 38 months of war. It is also organized by a specific service. (Shown in the slideshow)
Memorials Across The Nation
Korean War Remembrance is set across the nation with murals and art work to symbolize the hard work the soldiers went through and to remember the Korean War. This was set to remember the war and for the war to no longer be the "Forgotten War"
